Note: Young Leaders and any Young Leaders volunteering from outside of scouting must complete module A within 3 months.  Although a Young Person is not permitted to assist at a scout group until they reach 13½ years of age (for YLs at squirrels, beavers and cubs but those transitioning up from scouts should wait 12 months before returning to their former scout troop), they can start their Module A training in the 3 months leading up to their becoming 13½ years of age.

Note: Any Young Person volunteering for their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Bronze Award, whether as an Explorer Scout or from and outside organisation e.g. a school, must complete Module A within the period of their Volunteering otherwise their DofE Volunteering assessor report must be delayed until completion of the module.  For those volunteering for Silver DofE must have completed Module A and at least one more module and those volunteering for Gold DofE must have completed Module A and at least 2 other modules before their volunteering is complete.
